We Believe…

We find an anchor for faith in ancient beliefs (as expressed in Holy Scripture,  historic creeds, the catechism, and the 39 Articles of Religion) because they are reliable pathways to point us toward Jesus. We also seek fresh expressions and practices of our faith that apply to our current historical context and our daily work and life.

Our specific expression of faith is found in the beliefs and practices of the Anglican Communion which creates space for what has been described as a “blessed tension” between varying perspectives on how to believe and live out the Christian faith. The communion is a worldwide family of over 80 million Christians living in nearly every country. We cherish the connection we have with our brothers and sisters around the world as they give us a sense of global connection and responsibility. We are a part of the Anglican Church of North America and the Diocese of the Great Lakes.

We believe…

Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn,

for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,

for they will inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

for they will be filled.

Blessed are the merciful,

for they will be shown mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they will be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

We believe…

in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth

in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried;

He descended to hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead.

He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
